My citizenship journey is over. I am a naturalized US citizen as of 09/23. Things that I learned from this forum gave me confidence to complete the journey.
We completed our interviews and oath ceremony this week. I speak from my personal experience only but I believe when you submit your N-400 applications, they try to keep track of both spouse's cases together. We filed 3 years ago and both our case statuses would change at the same time, even though I know I was the primary applicant responsible for the delay due to name and security checks.
My friend had a naturalization interview on June 28. He passed the tests, but they asked for tax transcripts for the past 3 years and proof that he is current with all of his income state tax obligations. On July 11 he went in person in Chicago USCIS office and gave the required evidence. On the same they, he received email that a recent action was taken on his case. The online status was saying that request for evidence was asked and he has deadline until June 28 to do so. Once again, he gave them the required documents on July 11.
I went to Newark office for naturalization interview. The result is: no decision is made. I am nervous because the IO was unfriendly as if just looking for issues in my file to deny the application.
Okay. Thanks for the reply. Money was never an issue here. You can not get the babysitting at 5/6 AM as the travel from home to downtown is involved. Anway... I wanted to provide my experience to help others in similar situations.
I had my interview at 10:15 on Jan 26 (Seattle, WA). I arrived at 9:45 but they wouldn't let me check in til exactly 15 mins before the interview time. They ran late so they only called me at saw me at 10:45. It took 30 mins. The officer interviewing me was quite young and initially very formal but by the end he was chatting with me, really friendly and nice. Went over every page of my application and asked me to answer pretty much all the questions orally to check my answers against the form.
