USCIS Reaches Fiscal Year 2025 H-1B Cap

Release Date

12/02/2024

USCIS has received enough petitions to reach the congressionally mandated 65,000 H-1B visa regular cap and the 20,000 H-1B visa U.S. advanced degree exemption, known as the master’s cap, for fiscal year (FY) 2025.

USCIS will send non-selection notices to registrants through their online accounts over the next few days. When USCIS finishes sending these non-selection notifications, the status for properly submitted registrations that USCIS did not select for the FY 2025 H-1B numerical allocations will show:

Second Random Selection from Previously Submitted Registrations Complete for FY 2025 H-1B Regular Cap

USCIS recently announced they would need to select additional registrations for unique beneficiaries to reach the fiscal year 2025 H-1B regular cap numerical allocation. The projections indicate USCIS has now randomly selected a sufficient number of registrations for unique beneficiaries as needed to reach the regular cap from the remaining properly submitted FY 2025 registrations.

- Does the status automatically change to H1B on Oct 1? or does immigration require paystubs for a couple of weeks to prove our employment?

- If I file the petition with two companies separately, how will immigration decide which one to approve? Will they approve both?

- Are there any travel restrictions from June to Sept
