Recently I have been to Baltimore District Office to collect my interim EAD, I was told that if INS Processing Center(Vermont) requested some additional documentation, that requested documentation should be sent to Vermont(that information should be updated in INS database), then only they can issue interim EAD. They are taking 30 days to issue Interim EAD.
I walked in to the Detroit USCIS Center on Monday Sept 9th 2003 at 11:30pm. They gave me the waiting number & gave me an application form for Employment Authorization. At around 3:00 pm the duty officer wanted receipt notices (over 90-day proof), the original I-765 application, I-94 & driving licence (proof of picture ID). She asked me to get photo copies of each of these documents, which I got it immediately for her. After an hour someone called my name and took my picture and provided the card good for 6 months.
"Went to the local Houston USCIS office by 4:50 am on friday Jul 11, 2003 and found myself behind 100 people (folks camping out...looked like a slumber party
. They sure let us in by 6:15am and got a number (186) & processed by around 12:45pm.

But he thinks the H-1B visa program already has shrunk along with the rest of the economy. "It's down, in my opinion, to 10 percent of what it was."

After a year-long overhaul, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has launched a completely redesigned web interface for employers using the Agency’s E-Verify Program.
“This is one more example of the ongoing enhancements we are making to E-Verify,” said USCIS Director Alejandro Mayorkas. “The redesigned web interface for E-Verify provides employers more streamlined access and offers an expanded customer support section. This parallels the Agency’s USCIS.gov redesign last September that ensures continued efficiency and transparency in our services.”
