The Ombudsman's Office requests that customers submit Form DHS 7001 for all cases, including those related to applications for Employment Authorization Documents (EAD). Form DHS 7001 is required by the Ombudsman’s Office for compliance with applicable privacy rules.

Introduction
Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano extended the Temporary Protected Status (TPS) designation for Sudan for 18 months. She also designated the new Republic of South Sudan for TPS for 18 months. Both the extension and the new designation are effective Nov. 3, 2011, and will continue through May 2, 2013.

First in Series of Regulations Designed to Facilitate Electronic Filing and Handling of USCIS Benefit Requests
WASHINGTON—The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) published the first in a series of regulations intended to promote the migration of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) benefit filings from a paper-based environment to an electronic one. The regulation is an important step toward modernizing how USCIS handles the more than 6 million benefit applications submitted annually.
