Rajiv's Comments in the News - 3.5 lakh Indians currently stuck in Green Card backlog

Published by: The Economic Times: December 29, 2021

Quotes and Excerpts from Rajiv in the article:

“Chronic and unconscionable delays have become an integral part of the USCIS and other immigration processes…,” said Rajiv S Khanna, managing attorney at Immigration.com. “While we can understand some delays that have been built into the process by statute, such as country-based immigration, processing delays of a year or more in benefits that should require only minutes to adjudicate are uncivilized.”

“While Congress is fully aware of the issues, little has been done to correct the situation. For a country that claims to be a nation of immigrants, the disregard for its own needs served by immigration is emblematic of our systemic dysfunction,” said Khanna.

My mother is a green card holder (her green card is valid till 2028). She was visiting her home country and was unable to travel back due to pandemic. Her flights were cancelled twice in 2020 and she contracted COVID in 2021. She returned from the US in April 2019. We are planning to bring her back to US. What is the new rule for people who got stuck due to pandemic and were not able to come back within one year? DO the immigration at the US airport will allow you to enter the US?
