CIS Ombudsman Updates for Unused Family-Based Visas
During FY 2009 and FY 2010, usage of family-based visas has been exceptionally low, especially among spouses and children of green card holders (the F-2A preference category). In FY 2009, approximately 10,000 family-based visas were unused and, by statute, were reallocated for use by employment-based immigrants in FY 2010.
USCIS Memo Authorizes VSC to Approve an Application to Extend/Change of U Nonimmigrant Status for Derivative Family Member
This Policy Memorandum (PM) authorizes the Vermont Service Center (VSC) to approve an Application to Extend/Change Nonimmigrant Status (Form 1-539) to extend U nonimmigrant status for a derivative family member whose initial period of stay is less than four years.

Temporary Protected Status Re-registration Period Extended for Haitian Nationals
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is extending the re-registration deadline from May 2, 2014 to July 22, 2014 for Haitian nationals who have already been granted Temporary Protected Status (TPS) and seek to maintain that status for an additional 18 months.
USCIS strongly encourages Haitian TPS beneficiaries to apply as soon as possible.

When you fill out your Form N-400, you must complete every section and answer every question as completely as you can. Also, please note that, as of May 5, 2014, USCIS will only accept the Form N-400 that has a revision date of 9/13/13. The revision date is printed on the lower left corner of the form.
