I reached there around 4:30am. People were already lined up. First you have to get the form from one line and then wait in another line. Around 6:30am they asked people who are there for EAD to form another shorter line. I got the token and my no. was called around 8:30am. The required documents are :



1. I-485 receipt

2. I-765 receipt

3.information about any previous I-765, like receipt date

4. previous EAD Plastic card

5.California driver license and Passport for identification.

I went to the Miami office today to apply for a temporary work authorization card. This office no longer accepts walk ins as of two days ago. People can either make an appointment with the office on the web from home, or on site. The waiting time is approximately two weeks for an appointment. This is for any type of immmigration case.

"96 days after submitting the EAD application, Tampa refused to issue an interim EAD. Evidentially an appointment card had been mailed that same day.The appointment was set for 10 days later. Including 2 months wasted trying to get the initial appointment to submit the EAD application, it took 5.5 months to get this EAD renewal. The real tragedy was the loss a job and residual loss of income which lasted months. We will start this process again 6 months before this EAD expires. Hmm...that's pretty soon".

I came to the USA from New Delhi, India with a Master's in Microbiology in 1992 - to pursue a Ph.D. in Biochemistry / Molecular biology specializing in protein engineering. In 2000, started a post doc- 7 months at Brigham and Women's hospital - did not get along with the indian jerk of a boss so changed to the main Harvard medical School quad under a fantastic caucasian post doc mentor and a very good friend, a very liberal democrat (Go John Kerry).

1. N-400, filed Feb-2006

2. Fingerprint: Completed Mar-2006.

3. Received interview letter April 2006.

4. Interview completed Jun-2006, tests passed, the FBI name check is pending.

5. Aug-2006, approached US congress Representative, office sent letter to FBI, answer received in October: Name Check is pending,
letter also stated the date when FBI received request from USCIS; knowing of this date was helpful; I was using this date in my

There were other couples, and I must say the office really looked busy as there were many IO’s. Well I assumed they were at the rate in which families being interviewed were going in and out.



Our chance came eventually and we were called in by a fine lady, whose first thing was to swear us in. She appeared like she wanted to laugh through some of the proceedings although she kept a serious look.

I don't blame them since they only thought of giving us a better life than what they had in Mexico. Through the years, I have acquired great knowledge thanks to the schools of this great country. In May 2004, I graduated from Southern Polytechnic State University with a 3.66 GPA. However, due to these laws I have not been able to find a job, where I can put my skills to work.
