My appointment was scheduled at 7:15 am. Yes, 7:15 in the morning. I arrived the USCIS office on W. Badura Ave. at 6:45 am. There were about eleven people waiting by the front door already. The guard opened the door at 7:05 am. After I went through the security and set in the waiting area, it was twenty after seven. There were five people waiting in the interview area. The rest was in for info pass or fingerprint.

WASHINGTON — The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) proposed changes to its regulations that would strengthen and enhance the process for foreign students with science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM) degrees from a U.S. college or university to get practical training experience in the United States. The enhancement of this regulation was announced as a part of President Obama’s November Executive Actions.
DHS has asked for an additional extension of stay to 10 May 2016 of the court order under which the STEM extension of OPT was invalidated by the DC federal court. DHS needs time to review appx. 50,500 comments they have received on the new proposed regulations. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) proposes to amend its F-1 nonimmigrant student visa regulations on optional practical training (OPT) for certain students with degrees in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM) from U.S. institutions of higher education. Specifically, the proposal would allow such F-1 STEM students who have elected to pursue 12 months of OPT in the United States to extend the OPT period by 24 months (STEM OPT extension).
WASHINGTON—The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) will allow up to 12,999 nonimmigrants in fiscal year (FY) 2016 for the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI)-Only Transitional Worker (CW-1) program. DHS published the notice in the Federal Register.
We were asked to provide a second opinion on a complicated case where the US consulate had denied a green card based upon a finding that the beneficiary/applicant had committed visa fraud where they had earlier misused a visa. The consulate directed the applicant to file for a waiver (which is quite difficult to obtain). Note that a finding of fraud is a permanent bar from entering the USA.
The “Pending Employment-Based Form I-485 Report,” displays the total number of pending adjustment of status applications, per preference classification. The report shows how many pending adjustment of status (green card) applications in each preference classification have priority dates in a given month and year.
Great news!! I got my approval in the mail! I thank the good lord and all the good people in this forum who had shared their experiences helping the rest of us in this journey.
It took a year for me and my family to finally get our approval decision and it's been quite a ride.
For those of you still waiting for a decision or an interview my advice:
1. Apply for an EAD as soon as you reached the 150 day. On the day 181 call USCIS to ask for a service request.
