We have finally got the employment based green card after applying almost 12 years ago my question is around taking some time off. Most people ask the question of switching employers after getting the EB Green Card but my question is if I can just quit my job and take a break for 6 months before getting back into the workforce next year. Do I have to wait a certain amount of time before quitting or can I do it now?
I think that's perfectly legitimate because when you received your green card approval on that date you had no intention of quitting, but rapidly thereafter the situation changed so if the situation changes there is no problem somebody quitting work and staying out of work for as long as needed. My GC process was started towards the end of 1999. After the Labor Cert. was approved, my I-140 was filed for. At this stage there was an RFE on my I-140.
