My interim EAD experience
Hi,
I want to share my interim EAD experience. I went to the local office on July 6 in Arlington,VA.
Well, I arrived at INS @ 7:15AM. There were like 250 to 300 people before me. By the time I got my EAD card it was 4:30PM. There is only one person that was helping issues related to work permits. Part of the reason for the delay was they closed early on july 2.
Anyways, be prepared to take day off (for those who are already occupied during the day) when you plan to go for your interim EAD.

EAD and Advance Parole was applied and Jul 8, 2004 along with I140 and I485(concurrent). Received by Vermont service center on Jul 13, 2004. Approved on Jul 28,2004. Recieved EAD card on Aug 2,2004. I saw on Web my advance parole also was approved.So EAD and Advance parole in 15 days.

Had our EADs done in a day too.My wife had a job offer confirmed but did not have an EAD on the day she received her offer letter.Since we had passed the wait period to qualify for an interim EAD we went on a expedition to the BCIS office at 5am and were among the 20's in the line.Got it done in less than a hour and drove to the nearby office for Photo.Had to wait for the office to open the counters and were one among the first few to get it done.Everything was done by 10.30am and my wife got her job too
iEAD Experience at NYC
I had a 11 AM appointment (ND-4/6/2004 at VSC) via infopass but showed up at 10 AM just in case.
1. The guard at the building entrance asked me to enter at the beginning of the Q since I had an infopass appointment.
2. In room 310, I stood in the line just like everyone else. Got a ticket at 10:30 and headed to room 900 on the 9th floor.
3. My number was called at 11 AM and I handed my infopass appointment sheet and filled out 765 form. The person at the counter asked me to wait for the number to be called again.
Went to the local immigration office of New york in order to receive the EAD card
Today the 9th of August 2004 i went to the local immigration office of New york in order to receive the EAD card as they told me over the phone when i call earlier the day that made my application 90 . I filled a form i-539 for the v-status and a form 765 for the EAD on april 29 2004, they gave me the notice with the date 7th of may 2004 . When i arrive at the local office with my infopass apointement thing went very easy . You go to the room 310 for a number , filled out the application then went to the 9 floor on room 900 .

I applied for an EAD in April 2004 along with an I-485 etc. The EAD was applied for through e-file.
I heard nothing for 90 days, then made an appointment with Tampa USCIS.
I arrived and was told that as I e-filed the EAD application before I received my I-485 notice of action (but after I sent the I-485 pack) that my EAD COULD be denied. I was told that they couldn't issue an interim EAD and that I'd need to apply again. She then laughed at me and I was asked to leave for no reason.

They say about 30 days, but my wife got the letter in 2 weeks. Once she has this letter, it was pretty easy for her to get that interim EAD. They generally dont listen to you...unless you follow their procedures.
Newark office Experience
1. Got in line at 4:15AM. 8 people in front of me.
2. At 7:30AM, they started taking folks with appointments.
3. At 8:00AM, they started taking walk-ins.
4. After security check, sent to the 3rd floor.
5. Told that computers for the ticket system are down, only I90 applicants can be processed.
6. Started giving out numbers manually. Mine was E0002. I176 receipt was taken.
7. Was sent to the EAD section across the big room.
8. Asked to fill I765 application. I brought one from home.

Mr Khanna and his crew are an amazing bunch of people. 6 years ago when I was exploited by my 1st employer Mr Khanna had responded to as SOS email from me.
This willingness to help cemented my decision to come back to Mr. Khanna for my H1 and Green Card application. Throughout both processes Mr. Khanna's entire crew was extremely helpful and responsive. I received my permanent resident stamp in my passport on June 18, 2004, ending these significant and challenging 5 years of my life. I would like to thank to Rajiv S. Khanna and his staff for their outstanding work to help me in this important process.
I would like to mention that due to the immense I-485 backlog I had to have my EAD and AP renewed each 2 times. The Law offices didn't charge me for the unexpected extra amount of work.
I would like to show my special thanks to Leila Lehman, who was always there to answer instantly to all my questions and worries during the last 27 months of I-485 processing.
