Hi everyone I have finally been granted asylum. I filed my case in November of 2014. A lot of people said it will be difficult for me to be granted because I have been travelling in and out of the US for a long time. I have been in and out for a total of six times before filling for asylum.

Hello everyone. I got my approval notice yesterday (Chicago Office).
I was waiting for the interview for 3 years plus 9 months for the decision.
The officer was friendly (kind of too friendly, got me really nervous), "made" me speak without the interpreter because of my "fluent" English and also asked some tricky and unexpected questions, all while smiling nicely. I convinced myself that I would be denied.

Great news!! I got my approval in the mail! I thank the good lord and all the good people in this forum who had shared their experiences helping the rest of us in this journey.
It took a year for me and my family to finally get our approval decision and it's been quite a ride.
For those of you still waiting for a decision or an interview my advice:
1. Apply for an EAD as soon as you reached the 150 day. On the day 181 call USCIS to ask for a service request.

USCIS Extends Rule Providing Interpreters at Affirmative Asylum Interviews

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services announced today a fourth extension to a temporary final rule (TFR) requiring use of a USCIS interpreter at certain affirmative asylum interviews. This TFR extends the requirement through Sept. 12, 2023. After that date, affirmative asylum applicants who cannot proceed with the interview in English must provide their own interpreters.
Asylum Applicants Can Now File Form I-765 Online

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services today announced that certain asylum applicants can now file Form I-765, Application for Employment Authorization, online.
Effective immediately, applicants for employment authorization under category (c)(8), Pending Asylum and Withholding of Removal Applicants and Applicants for Pending Asylum under the ABC Settlement Agreement, may file Form I-765 online.

I will copy and paste the conversation between me and the Norwegian Embassy in San Francisco/CA. I just think the Embassies should be aware about the Travel Document...they look at it like it's an alien from Mars!!!

I live in Santa Barbara-California however I was born in Brazil and I have political Asylum. I just got my Refugee Travel Document and I was wondering If I need the "Schengen Visa" since I am not allowed to use the Brazilian passport anymore.
Can I go to Norway using the Travel Document or I need the "Schengen Visa"?
