Background: Wife's H1 expires in a couple of weeks. Needed EAD card. Had filed I-765 on sept 07 2005. Five months and no EAD card yet. Checked with INS 800 number. Found the card was at Missouri ( Lee's Summit ) service center. Since time was running out on the H1 B. Took an appointment at Detroit Office. For interim EAD. Here is a sequence of events for some one else who might need an interim EAD in Detroit MI.
Myself and my wife applied for EAD on 12/13/2004. I got approved in a week but she did not get approval. So, We took the appointment at Newark, NJ at 7:45 AM on 04/22/2005.
We reached 970 Broad St, Newark ,NJ at 5 AM. No one was there and waited outside of the builing. People started coming after 6:15 AM. By 7:30 AM there were around 40-50 people around.
Secretary of Homeland Security John F. Kelly has extended Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for eligible nationals of Haiti (and eligible individuals without nationality who last habitually resided in Haiti) through Jan. 22, 2018. After consulting with the appropriate U.S. government agencies and reviewing country conditions, Secretary Kelly has determined that a limited, six-month extension is warranted.
As of May 25, 2017, USCIS has received a sufficient number of petitions to reach the maximum possible numerical limit (the “cap”) of workers who may be issued CNMI-Only Transitional Worker (CW-1) visas or otherwise provided with CW-1 status for fiscal year (FY) 2018. Although the FY 2018 cap has not been set, it is required by statute to be less than the 12,998 workers set for FY 2017.
Do the 3 years spent in residency training in an HPSA/MUA area be counted towards the five years required for NIW? The residency training (3 years) and subsequent job (2 years) were on H1B visa in two different HPSA/MUA areas but not processed through NIW route. Can the NIW petition be filed now retrospectively for those years already worked in underserved areas? My current GC sponsoring job is in a University teaching hospital (job designation Assistant Professor) but obviously also involves treating patients. The PERM prevailing wage category was teacher/ Professor but job description included patient care. Can the job be changed to that involving only patient care (no teaching) and still be considered same/ similar? How about a job (with patient care only & no teaching) in a private practice (as opposed to hospital employee)?

It was a very good experience working with Rajiv, whose office handled my green card application under Outstanding Researcher category. They did an excellent job in a very timely manner, and I got my I-140 followed by I-485 approval all within two and half years from LIN center. Thanks a lot to Diane, Prerna, and Suman.
I highly recommend them to anyone looking for immigration related services without any reservation.
A note: Prior to Rajiv I worked with a lawer representing my company and wasted lot of time.
Myself and my family got GC approved. My case had become bit complex due to my doctor's ignorance in preparing medical report properly.
Mr. Rajiv & his employees were very patient through the entire process and helped me through the approval process.
No need to say he is an expert in the Immigration & Naturalization affairs and best part of him I liked is: he is always reachable by email and also by telephone as and when needed without any waiting time!!!
Usually when we want to get some advice from an attorney or a doctor, first thing that comes to mind is they are not reachable without a formal appointment etc. Mr.Rajiv though he is so famous among immigration lawyers, he is still reachable at anytime as and when needed.
His employees were also very cordial and provided personal attention to my case.
In short, he saved my life here.
I would strongly refer him for any USCIS related work.
I have had a wonderful experience working with Rajiv and his team. I want to thank Anna Baker esp. for all her work.
If you are seeking for a some one to represent you I recommend Rajiv's firm with great enthusiasm.
Thanks Rajiv for being so kind and answering all my queries.
Best wishes and God's blessings on your firm.

yeaaaahh..i am so happy and that wouldnt have been possible w/o this forum and all the help I have received!
We had our interview appointment at 11.05. We left home at about 8.00. And of course, Chicago would not be Chicago if there was no traffic jam, so we left the highway to take an alternate route. After spotting the INS building, we looked for a parking. We enter the building at 10.00.
Alright, first off thank you to everyone that helped me out with what to bring!
We showed up with about 30 pounds of paperwork, photos, tax returns, wedding albums, cards.
Our appointment was at 1 pm, we arrived around 12:15. We got in the lineup, and waited. and waited and waited. (got a little warm considering it is still in the high 80s, 90s) At about 12:55 they let us in along with a swarm of other people coming in for the same thing (and some naturalization cases) We signed in, and waited right up at the door to be called.
I had my interview today in downtown miami. The entire process took just less than an hour of which around 45 min was the wait for my turn. I had taken so much with me but nothing was needed except the passport and green card. I did get one unusual question related to my mailing address. I have always used a P.O Box as a mailing address so she just asked why P.O Box, why not use the home address. I just told her I change residences quite often ( am a single guy ) and its just easy for me to get a P.O Box near work.
My labor got cleared under PERM on February 7th,2006. I started the whole process in December 20th,2005 with Rajiv Khanna as my attorney. I’m very grateful to Rajiv S. Khanna and team for helping me with my labor certification. Their guidance helped me to get all my paperwork right. They make it a point to educate us about the laws and update us promptly about any changes in the DOL. This makes us feel comfortable and generates awareness of new policies under PERM.
In short Rajiv and his staff made the whole process very easy, simple and painless. We are really glad that we chose this Law firm. We are greatly pleased with Rajiv and his staff as far as their professionalism, courtesy and promptness regarding my Labor. Many of my friends went through Rajiv and all of them are also happy like me. We are thankful to Rajiv and his staff.
I deeply appreciate all the helps from Rajiv Khanna's firm to my journey of PR. All the staff here I have been contacted with are knowlegable, and warm hearted, which light up so many dark nights of mine in the past. I would like to give my special thanks to Prerna, Shivane, Suman, Richa, Charu, who not just helped my case but also give me the hope as well.
Thank you all!
Rajiv, Anna and the team was great with their help regarding my H1B transfer, particularly with their thouroughness in responding to an RFE.
Thank you all again!
-Sonali.
It was a nice experience. The application was filed in a timely manner. The USCIS did not request any RFE and bottom line is that the lawyers got the work done.
Thank You Joy.
